Palazzo Querini Stampalia, in the heart of Venice, houses the entire heritage of prestigious Venetian family. The Museum of the Querini Stampalia Foundation, created by their last heir, represents one of the best-preserved examples of a house museum in Europe. The main floor of the Museum recreates the sumptuous residence of the Querini family where, in a very refined atmosphere, the ancient collections with precious furnishings, paintings, porcelain, globes, fabrics and sculptures are historically and artistically linked with the rooms full of stuccos and frescoes.

Today, the Museum offers the atmosphere of the past, while promoting temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.

THE PALACE AND THE COLLECTIONS

Querini Stampalia Palace was built between the first and second decade of the XVI century. The best-known part of the collection housed in the XVIII century museum is the largest pictorial one about XVIII century Venice. Among the artists on display, many of them from the Venetian school, there are Giovanni Bellini (“Presentation in the Temple”), Lorenzo di Credi, Giambattista Langetti, Jacopo Palma il Vecchio, Bernardo Strozzi, Marco and Sebastiano Ricci, Giuseppe Salviati, Giambattista Tiepolo, Pietro Longhi, Gabriel Bella, and Antonio Canova.

In addition to the porcelain collection, including 244 table pieces from the Sèvres factory, there’s the well-stocked library, and the architectural modifications made by Carlo Scarpa and Mario Botta in the 1960s – they can be seen at the entrance of the building, and on the ground floor.
