Riserva Naturale Monte Prinzera is in the Westerm Parma Apennines, between the Valli del Taro and del Ceno e Baganza; it is composed of a small territory, where the mountain by the same name is present (736 metres above sea level), but rich in important natural and environmental elements. As a matter of facts, it is composed of ophiolites, a volcanic rock with lunar landscape, which favours unique environments for the richness and specificity of flora. In the lower area there are woods, bushes, vallecula, wild areas, ravines, small wet areas. Among the animals, there are insects, birds and predatory birds, rocky passerine; among the reptiles three-toed skink and adder Riccioli; among mammals, squirrels, badgers, foxes and roe deers.
There are relevant historical-artistic aspects: settlements of the Bronze Age, the Francigena road i the area Monte Bardone, parish churches, such as the majestic buildings and borgo, artefacts and 19th century works.
Its management is in the hands of Parchi del Ducato with the support of the municipalities of Fornovo and Terenzo, which give a contribution to purchases. To book guided-themed tours for schools contact the number 0521 802688 from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 13.00.
