Sasseto Wood – Natural Monument of Sasseto Wood
This post is also available in: Italiano (Italian)
Built at the foot of the Torre Alfina Castle, in the heart of Tuscia, Sasseto Wood is a protected area included in the 20 most enchanted places in Italy. Rich with biodiversity and ancient trees, this wood is crisscrossed by paths running through mosses, ferns, and twisted branches, eventually leading to an old mill, an eye-catching waterfall, the Castle of Torre Alfina and the final resting place of Marquis Edoardo Cahen. The latter was the first Italian of a family of Belgian bankers of Jewish origin, who bought the property in 1880. Cahen added an old mill and an evocative waterfall.
Excursions, visits and events related to nature are organized throughout the year.
