Residence San Bartolomeo has ab extension of 4 hectares in the plane of Caiazzo, north of Caserta. It is composed of two buildings, one in front of the other, facing the valley of Cesarano. The access is possible through an alley bordered by Populus nigra var. ‘Italica’ in the first part, while there are Cypresses from Arizona (Cupressus arizonica) in the second section. The first building, a tuff pavellon, is bordered by numerous palms (Phoenix canariensis, Washingtona robusta and Brahea armata), yuccas, Phormium spp. And specimens of Lantana montevidentis and Calliandra tweedii; there are also eucalyptus, oleanders (Nerium oleander) and privets (Ligustrum vulgare) dating back to the thirties. A high Ipomoea quamoclit and Ipomoea alba and white, climbing roses’ corral is located in front of the second building, which was once the manor house of the 19th century’s farm house. There are high pines (Pinus pinea), which shade a path with scented lemons cultivated on espaliers of chestnut trees; camphor trees (Cinnamomum camphora) have been planted recently away from the other trees in order to allow them to fully develop. It is possible to observe storks on a large meadow. These animals have been brought up in captivity to allow their reintroduction, while there are parrots among the trees. Some oaks, at the end of the entrance alley, guard the residence and testify the secular history of the place.
