Arranged on sloping ground, in a sort of natural amphitheater with the woods behind, the Vacunae Rosae rose garden is a 5-acre wonder inside “La Tacita” estate, in the historic region of Sabina, between Rome and Rieti.
At the entrance, there’s a stone garden inspired by the Zen tradition – a place that stimulates meditation, with three sacred trees outside: a tamarisk (Tamerix spp.), a pomegranate shrub (Punica granatum), and an almond tree (Prunus dulcis).
The rose garden offers a historical, cultural and artistic journey into the world of roses. There are 130 themed sectors, each one offering a homogeneous group of roses arranged according to botanical development, history, colors, and perfumes.
Water is a vital element in this meditation garden, also thanks to nine fountains and pools. At the center of the garden, there’s the one dedicated to Psyche, hidden inside a maze of roses from which one can proceed towards the belvedere.
