Ciancavaré nursery and garden is a small plateau on the edge of an oak forest, between hills of Mediterranean scrub and olive groves, in the province of Imperia. It is specialized in Mediterranean, aromatic, spontaneous, and officinal plants.
Born in 2005, after a profitable partnership with the Experimental Center for Floriculture of San Remo (CRA), it now produces shrubby, suffruticose, and herbaceous species of the Mediterranean flora, reproduced by seed and cuttings and cultivated in pots, respecting the natural growth cycle and the surrounding environment. That is to say, no chemical additives are used. The special pots used can prevent spiraling, thus safeguarding the proper development of roots.
Currently, there is a rich collection of sage, with over 100 species and varieties including mugworts, Helicrysum, rosemary, Santolina species and many other typical plants of the Mediterranean scrub, autochthonous or imported.
Spontaneous plants from this very nursery were used by landscape architect James Basson, who won the “Best in Show” award for his spectacular garden at the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show.
Ciancaverè provided part of the spontaneous plants inserted by the landscape architect James Basson in his spectacular demonstration garden at the Chelsea Flower Show 2017, winner of the “Best in Show” title.
