Pinus canariensis

This is the tallest Canary Island pine in Europe: in the Schiva Garden, there is a magnificent specimen of Pinus canariensis, more than 98 ft high, which is also what’s left of the ancient Giardino Moreno.
This very specimen exceeds in height even any previously catalogued pine tree.
Its long flexible needles, gathered in bundles, soften the vertical momentum of the tree with their bright green shade. Next to it, there’s a most impressive palm tree – a Jubaea chilensis, the palm of Chile – with its long and supple pinnate leaves.
